Let ICE Communicate for You

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Winter is definitely here to stay and causing some very dangerous situations for drivers, pedestrians, and the elderly.  No matter how careful we are, accidents still happen and illness can still strike.  We at HIC are concerned for everyone’s safety and would like to educate our clients and friends on a cellular telephone system that we can all utilize.  This protocol is called “ICE.”  ICE stands for “in case of emergency.”

Apparently searching for a listing denoted as ICE is a standard procedure that all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone.

If we were to be involved in an accident, or taken ill and unable to communicate, the people attending us might have access to our cell phone but not be aware of whom to contact.  This is where ICE comes into play.

What you need to do is to store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted in an emergency situation under “ICE.”

The ICE listing is known nationally by emergency services personnel and hospital staff members.

To list more than one person, enter ICE1, ICE2, ICE3, etc.

The idea is to have ICE speak when you are rendered unable to.  Please share this information with those you care about and stay warm and safe.
